Casting Workshop - Lost Wax and Organics 10th + 11th August
Workshop Date: Saturday 10th + Sunday 11th August 9am - 4pm daily
Workshop Location: Bendigo City (full address details will be emailed to you after booking)
Join us for this weekend workshop on casting and learn how to carve wax to create your very own silver ring. You will learn the process of cutting out, filing down and shaping the wax to create a unique design all of your own. We will explore the use of organic materials such as leaves, seeds and twigs. Participants are encouraged to bring along their own organic materials either dry or fresh to use in this process.
Once you have created your design on the Saturday we will "invest" the ring ready for casting on Sunday, where you will be guided through the burnout process, melting your silver to pour direct into your lost wax mould.
Once your piece is freed from the investment plaster we will run through various clean-up processes, exploring different finishing techniques that will complete your project.
You will also explore the ancient technique of Cuttlefish Casting. This technique of casting has been used for centuries and is a fast and easy process that you can do at home! We will run through how you can create your own rings, pendants and earrings in a matter of minutes!
What to Bring: All you need to bring with you is yourself, your notebook and your willingness to learn, we will take care of the rest! Yes, that's right. We provide tea/coffee, biscuits and cheeses, lunches and snacks to keep you fuelled up and ready to go. Just let us know if you require any special dietary needs and we will do the rest!
